Description
Legend has it that when the first shrine was built at Nara, near Kyoto, Japan, a god arrived riding a deer. Today, the "shika" are still protected as divine messengers. This one -- apparently between assignments -- naps outside the door to Todaiji Temple, just steps away from the world's largest bronze Buddha.
